Weddings Elsewhere - Fall 2014

My Tips: The best months to hold your destination wedding in Provence are June through September. If I had to pick the perfect time of day for an outdoor ceremony, it would be 5:00 p.m. because of the high sunlight and the warm temperatures! And, of course, that means the reception would follow under the stars! The Wedding Venue: To choose Provence, it is to choose of a place of matchless reception. Opt for a mas (a traditional Provençal farmhouse) in a very quiet location with a splendid veranda opening onto a garden and an amazing swimming pool. Or imagine being at a beautiful mansion house in a green setting with extra bedrooms so all of your attendees can stay there with you. Ask your local wedding planner (if you hired one) to find you the perfect place for you. If he or she is a native of the area, your wedding planner will be your best insurance to find the perfect private location to welcome your destination wedding! If you don’t hire a wedding planner, much research can be done online; consider asking a local real estate agency to give you information about rentals they may have that could make the ideal location for your wedding (or honeymoon!). 32 Weddings Elsewhere | FALL 2014 My Tips: If you cannot visit the different venues before you come for your wedding, be sure to ask for a virtual tour, in addition to the photos you will receive. The Awesome Countryside: From June until August, the lavender fields in France are spectacular. Lavender can be used for your wedding decoration, as perfume (spray), or as gifts for your guests. Take a deep breath and imagine picking several bouquets of lavender, for you, for your bridesmaids, and for your table centerpieces. My Tips: As soon as you arrive in Provence, either a few days or a few hours before your wedding ceremony, put a little extract of lavender in a handkerchief, or on your pillow, and breathe it deeply. Lavender has soothing virtues and will give you the extra bit of calm you need on your exciting day. The Amazing Lights: The light in Provence will make the pictures of your wedding luxurious and gorgeous. There’s something inspirational about the daylight in Provence, and of course, the starry nights are exquisite. My Tips: If your destination wedding takes place Photographer / Muriel Saldalamacchia
