Pack a couple pair of shorts, a pair of long pants, a dress, a bathing suit, and a few tops. If you’re like me, you’ll start there, and before you know it you’re concerned your bag is going to weigh more than 50 pounds! I beg of you, take less. After you pack, remove half. Literally. You wont need it. 9. Water. Wherever you go, don’t forget to hydrate. In Belize, for example, the water is drinkable in most parts of San Pedro, but no one drinks tap water. You will be served bottled water if you request water. So, be sure to find out if the water is drinkable where you are going, and if not, plan on bottled water. 10. Bugs. Yes, some beaches have bugs. So be prepared. ♥ Lara Goldman, a Destination Wedding and event planner, is owner of Romantic Travel Belize, 215.469.2496; lara@romantictravelbelize.com; www.romantictravelbelize.com. Plan the attire. Do yourself a favor and go informal. There is nothing more uncomfortable than wearing a suit and tie under the sun. Besides, do you really want a princess ball gown and high heels making it difficult for you to walk down the aisle? Probably not. 7. Tell your guests. When you send your wedding invitations, make sure your guests know the wedding ceremony will be on a beach. It’s important for them to know so they can plan to wear sunscreen and dress accordingly. Speaking of sunscreen, it’s not a bad idea to have several bottles on hand for guests, just in case. The later in the day your wedding is the less likely sunscreen will be an issue, but if you are getting married in the middle of the day your guests will definitely want protection. In the event it’s a particularly hot day or evening, make sure you also have some coolers filled with bottles of water. After all the planning, all that is left is to get married already! By keeping everything in this guide in mind, your beach wedding should be picture perfect. ♥ Monique Brigham is the owner of Plumeria Breezes Travel, specializing in destination weddings and honeymoons.
