Few things in the waterworks industry have been as innovative as
the Mechanical Joint. Times have changed. And so has
AMERICAN. Introducing the AMERICAN Flow Control Series 2500
with ALPHATM ends. Now, you can use the same valve for ductile
iron, HDPE, PVC, and even cast iron pipe. Unlike MJ, the restraint
accessories come attached, leaving only one bolt on each end to
tighten. That saves you time and money.
The AMERICAN Series 2500 with ALPHATM ends – it’s the only gate
valve you’ll ever need.

As drinking water professionals, we
know the importance of source water
protection. As utility experts, we must
share knowledge of the importance of
protection of source water with landown-ers
and other stakeholders in our water-sheds.
Often landowners in watersheds
of drinking source waters are longtime
ranchers, farmers and individual land-owners.
Stewardship of the land can vary
greatly, from conscientious and adverse
to erosion and chemical applications to
just the opposite. The latter can result in
increased runoff and transport of fertiliz-er
and chemical-laden sediment, thereby
increasing chemicals that need to be re-moved
by the water treatment processes
and increasing nutrients that promote al-gal
growth within storage reservoirs.
It’s well-known that algae are the
enemy of good-tasting drinking water
since byproducts of blue-green algae, in-cluding
methyl-isoborneol and geosmin,
can be detected by most persons as low
as five parts per trillion. Removal of con-stituents
to very low levels is expensive
and extremely challenging. To address
