SFPUC’s WSIP Celebrates 10 Years and
Counting with Hetch Hetchy Water Delivery
System San Francisco Public Utility Commission
and city officials recently celebrated 10 years of
success with the Water System Improvement
Program (WSIP), one of the nation’s largest
infrastructure improvement programs. Over the
past ten years, WSIP has repaired, replaced and
seismically upgraded the Hetch Hetchy system. Its 82
projects include pipelines, tunnels, treatment plants,
reservoirs and a dam. It’s now more than 80 percent

18th Annual Children’s Water Education
Festival Draws 7,000 + Students More than
7,000 third through fifth graders learned about water
resources, the environment and recycling at the
annual two-day Children’s Water Education Festival
on the campus of UC Irvine. The event was hosted
by the Orange County Water District, Disneyland
Resort, the National Water Research Institute and
the Orange County Water District Groundwater
Guardian Team. The Festival teaches children to
be aware of their environment through hands-on

cycle, groundwater and surface water protection,
