For years, you’ve depended on the AMERICAN Series
2500 resilient wedge gate valve - the industry’s first
AWWA C515 reduced wall gate valve rated at 250
psi. And now you can depend on us even more.
Introducing the AMERICAN Series 3500 resilient
wedge gate valve. It’s available in sizes 4”-12” and is
UL Listed and FM Approved at 350 psi.
And if that’s not enough, it uses the same parts -
so you can feel confident in knowing it’s the same
dependable design. Because at AMERICAN, we do
things The Right Way.

Federal Regulatory Development
• UCMR 4 comment period ended on April
6, 2015; now we’re waiting for this
rulemaking shoe to drop.
• Fluoride levels in drinking water—Ne-vada
may revise its fluoride goal to
match the HHS-recommended level
(currently 0.7 mg/L) when HHS finalizes
recommended concentration (similar to
California as noted above).
• Second round of Long Term 2 En-hanced
Surface Water Treatment Rule
(LT2ESWTR) began on April 1, 2015.
• Drinking water storage tanks—we’re
waiting for guidance, which EPA may
release this year.
• Anticipate guidance on Legionella treat-ment
from EPA this year. Anyone who at-tended
Nevada Division of Environmental
Protection (NDEP) Chief Jennifer Carr’s
presentation at the CA-NV AWWA 2013
Spring Conference in Las Vegas should
know about concerns regarding Legionel-la
in large facilities’ hot water recirculation
systems. If you want to learn more, read the
guidance when it is available and come to
the NDEP presentation at CA-NV AWWA
2015 Annual Fall Conference in Las Vegas.
• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and USE-PA
definition of Waters of the U.S.— the
final Clean Water Rule was announced at
the end of May. Descriptions of the official
Waters of the U.S. will have significant rele-vance
and applicability to the new Califor-nia
Drinking Water System NPDES Permit.
• Final Third Round Regulatory Determi-nation,
including strontium, is currently
anticipated by end of this year.
Nevada’s Drinking Water Program
No news for the present. Look for updates
on the state’s experience regulating casi-no-
resorts that treat potable water delivered
to their facilities to control Legionella as part
of the Safe Drinking Water Act Committee’s
Regulatory Updates at 2015 AFC. S
